Abstract
For many decades, Thailand has been described as a “gay paradise” by various travel magazines and Bangkok is often referred to as the “gay capital of Asia”. However, local LGBTQ people are still facing discrimination in many aspects of their life and many rights are denied to people of various sexual orientations and identities. In this era of globalisation, tourism brings stronger connections between countries, increasing exchanges of ideas and customs among distinct populations, such as ideas and principles relating to sexual identities. Yet, very few studies possess tried to link tourism with the processes of political and legal transform, especially regarding LGBTQ rights. Moreover, it is still uncertain if LGBTQ tourism can have an impact beyond economic benefits in the destination. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to find out what are the impacts of LGBTQ tourism on the Thai LGBTQ community and on Thai legislation regarding people of various sexual orientations. LGBTQ+ tourism on the ascend in India
Australians Alan Maurice and his husband, David, are raring to come help to India for the third time.
The couple include already completed the "Golden Triangle," connecting the cities of Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, and earlier this year, they visited Mumbai and Hampi in southern India, famed for its temples and palaces.
"The plan is to visit Kerala, Kashmir, and Delhi soon — it has been on our bucket list," Maurice told DW.
David agrees that his experience traveling in India was very enjoyable.
"I don't recall a solo bad instance in our travels. We are mindful and watchful, but many of the places we visited offered inclusive environments, fostering a strong feeling of community," David told DW.
Alan and David are among the thousands of gay tourists visiting India, an emerging destination for LGBTQ+ travel. New players have entered the market in response to rising demand.

The market
As the global visibility of the LGBT community grew over the past 4 decades, there has been steady increase in interest in this demographic as a consumer group, a trend which is particularly evident in the commute industry.
Are gay people interesting 'guests'? Yes - they take longer trips and at a greater frequency, spend more per diurnal (because of higher free disposable income and a tendency for luxury) and travel outside the peak season
(see my survey).
This makes them the ideal tourist!
Also, a larger proportion of their commute time is now “gay travel” time . They’re increasingly going on “gay holidays”, “gay cruises”, participating in “gay events”, and staying in “gay hotels” - even dining out in "gay restaurants".
The industry of LGBT move, holidays, hospitality and all that comes with it was one of the first to lure companies, but more importantly cities, regions and countries: the so-called Destination Marketing Organizations. By now, many claim to be a gay destination and in the end it can become a self-fulfillin
