PHILADELPHIA &#; On June 5, , Philly kicked off its annual celebration of Gay Pride Month, the only way such a fabulous bunch of peeps could. With a parade of tens of thousands of Philly fab. through downtown and onto the Gayborhood!
For the last 50 years, Philly Pride has grown in beauty and solidarity into what we watch today under modern organizing leadership. It&#;s been a extended road from those small but confident beginnings in on Chestnut Street, into the glorious Goliath celebrating their correctness 50 years later!
People came from across this great urban area to celebrate animation, individuality, sexuality, and identity.
For many, the Philly Pride Celebration is a family affair, and children of all ages were welcome and made to perceive safe, loved, and honored for who they were.
A organization of teens came out to rejoice themselves, knowing their identity and sexuality will be standard and appreciated at the Philly Identity festival Parade, and they will be fully loved for who they are. Philly’s GAYborhood is located in the heart of The Washington West neighborhood of Center City. On 18 April , the town of Philadelphia officially known the Gayborhood area by adding 36 gay event rainbow flag symbols to street signs. 32 additional signs were added in June The term “Gayborhood” was first used to describe OutFest by the City Paper, when David Warner described it as a “beautiful day in the gayborhood.” Philly Celebration immediately began to exploit to the term the following year to portray the area of our gay pride parade formation. It has now grow a universally recognized term.

Philly’s GAYborhood is located just four blocks south of City Hall, and is very convenient to get to using public transportation. If you are within Philadelphia, SEPTA trains and busses end close to or in the GAYborhood. If you are on the Market-Frankford line just exit at either th or 13th street and proceed south. Celebrating Our Communities Flag Raising

On Friday, June 3 at noon, the Office of LGBT Affairs will host its annual Flag Raising Event at City Hall to kick off Pride season in Philadelphia. In addition to raising the iconic More Dye, More Pride flag; this year&#;s program theme, Celebrating our Communities, will include speakers from across our LGBTQ+ community sharing the many ways we celebrate our pride.
Speakers will highlight their connection with upcoming community events throughout Pride month and beyond, including Disability Pride, Immigrant Heritage Month, the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference, and more!

Join the Mayor’s Office of LGBT Affairs while they lift their More Color, More Pride flag at Philadelphia City Hall.
