Boys' Love — also known as "BL" or "Yaoi" — is a distinct genre of anime that focuses on romantic relationships between two male characters. Though it's a niche part of anime as a whole, BL has always been trendy among certain groups. With the normalization of LGBTQ+ voice in anime, the genre has change into more popular than ever and has even hit the mainstream in some cases.

BL has a notorious reputation for many, due to its often problematic depiction of gay couples. Beautiful and heartfelt. It&#;s not realistic in the sense that I deliberate this happens to a lot of people, but it is realistic in the sense that queer people are also people who have interests and who grieve and who deal with all the same things straight people do (plus more). And the emotions are very real--or perhaps saying they feel sincere is more accurate? I&#;m not sure how to put it.

There are so many elements to this show, and they are interwoven so that there&#;s always something absorbing and dramatic going on even while characters are changing and relationships are shifting and other more subtle things are going on. The MCs aren&#;t really dating, but their intense and almost instant connection is still a significant aspect of the show. They clearly own strong feelings toward each other, but there are a lot of complications keeping their relationship from progressing in a traditional manner (e.g. dating, having sex, making out, etc.).
